KARACHI: Sindh Health Authorities have imposed a ban on smoking and chewing ‘gutka’ and ‘manipuri’ within the premises of public sector offices and hospitals across the province.
The ban would be effective from today. The decision has been taken on the directions of Sindh Health Minister Dr Saad Khalid Niaz and subsequently Director General (DG) of Health Services Sindh issued written directives to all directors and medical superintendents of major hospitals and medical institutes for strict implementation of the orders.
Dr Irshad Memon has urged all directors and medical superintendents not to allow smoke and chew ‘mainpuri’ and ‘gutka’ within the hospital premises and that the orders must be implemented in letter and spirit. —APP
