Try Pizza Samosa Recipe for Today’s Iftar

ISLAMABAD: Pizza samosas makes a delightful addition to the iftar menu, offering a fusion twist to traditional Ramadan delicacies. With their crispy exterior and savory pizza filling, these samosas are sure to tantalize taste buds and satisfy cravings. Here’s a recipe for pizza samosas:

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour (maida), 2 tablespoons oil, salt to taste, water for kneading, 1 cup finely chopped vegetables (like bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives, etc.), 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese, 1/2 cup pizza sauce, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1 teaspoon dried basil, 1 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional), oil for deep frying,

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and 2 tablespoons of oil. Mix well.
  2. Gradually add water and knead to form a smooth dough. The dough should be firm but pliable. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  3. In the meantime, prepare the pizza filling. In a separate bowl, mix together the chopped vegetables, grated mozzarella cheese, pizza sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, and red chili flakes (if using). Adjust the seasoning according to your taste.
  4. After the dough has rested, divide it into small lemon-sized balls. Take one ball and roll it out into a small disc, about 4-5 inches in diameter.
  5. Place a spoonful of the pizza filling in the center of the disc. Fold one edge of the disc over the filling to form a semi-circle. Seal the edges tightly using a little water, pressing down firmly with your fingers.
  6. Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls and filling, until all the samosas are prepared.
  7. Heat oil in a deep-frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully slide in a few samosas at a time.
  8. Fry the samosas until they turn golden brown and crispy on all sides, turning occasionally.
  9. Once done, remove the samosas from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
