MIRPUR: Raja Muzaffar, Acting Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF-Yasin Malik), has urged the United Nations Secretary-General and Member States to promptly address the enduring Kashmir conflict.

In a press release from Mirpur-AJK, Muzaffar, a prominent Kashmiri leader based in the US, underscored the protracted struggle of the people of Jammu and Kashmir for self-determination and highlighted the egregious human rights violations suffered under occupation.

He said that the Kashmir issue remains unresolved and called upon the UN to acknowledge and uphold the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, granting them the opportunity to determine their own fate.

Muzaffar appealed to the UN to facilitate a peaceful and inclusive political process to ascertain the future of the internationally-recognized disputed state of Jammu and Kashmir and to alleviate escalating tensions in the region.

He adamantly opposed any solution that maintains the status quo or perpetuates the unlawful Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

Muzaffar stressed that the Kashmiri people’s quest for freedom serves as a poignant reminder of the pressing need for international attention and action to resolve this longstanding conflict.

His appeal precedes the upcoming 2024 UN General Assembly session in September, where he hopes to see the Kashmir issue prominently featured on the agenda.
