KARACHI: Stafanie Taylor’s stellar knock of 73 guided West Indies Women to a nail-biting two-wicket victory over Pakistan in the second ODI of the three-match series at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Sunday. With this victory, West Indies sealed the three-match ODI series 2-0.

While chasing a target of 223 runs set by Pakistan, West Indies Women initially appeared poised for a comfortable chase. Taylor’s impressive innings, complemented by significant contributions from Shemaine Campbell (52) and captain Hayley Matthews (44), propelled the visitors towards victory. However, a late surge by Nida Dar (4-52) rattled the West Indies batting lineup, setting up a tense finish.

With three runs needed off the final delivery, Karishma Ramharack’s boundary off Fatima Sana secured the win for West Indies in dramatic fashion.

Earlier while batting first, Pakistan posted a total of 222 runs, with Sidra Ameen (50) and Bismah Maroof (65) leading the charge. Despite notable partnerships, Pakistan’s innings faltered against the West Indies bowling attack, with Chinelle Henry and Ramharack claiming three wickets each.

In response, West Indies displayed resilience and determination, ultimately clinching victory and securing an unassailable lead in the series.

Stafanie Taylor’s outstanding performance earned her the Player of the Match award, capping off a memorable victory for the West Indies Women’s team.
