NEW YORK: Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly testing Instagram-like image editing features in its beta versions. The introduction of AI-powered image editing tools signifies WhatsApp’s commitment to providing users with innovative functionalities for their daily communication needs.

According to reports from Android Police, the latest beta release for Android (v2.24.7.13) includes new options such as Backdrop, Restyle, and Expand within the photo editor window. These features are expected to offer users more creative control over their images when posting status updates or sharing them with contacts.

WhatsApp to Introduce New Feature

The addition of a sparkle icon on the top row of the editor interface provides easy access to these new editing options. Upon tapping the icon, users can explore Backdrop, which allows them to change the background of their photos by adding text. Restyle enables users to make overall adjustments to the image’s appearance, while Expand facilitates enlarging the image size.

While these features are currently available in beta versions, they are not yet officially released to all users. Consequently, it remains uncertain when these enhancements will be rolled out to the wider WhatsApp user base and what their final appearance will entail.

The introduction of Insta-like image editing features underscores WhatsApp’s ongoing commitment to innovation and user satisfaction.
