Women Cricketers Take Part in Training Session Ahead of Series Against West Indies

LAHORE: The Pakistan women’s squad is currently taking part in training session at the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre in Karachi ahead of the upcoming series against West Indies. Around 20 players are actively participating in the camp, improving their skills and fitness under the guidance of the coaching staff.

Scheduled to continue until April 8th, the camp will conclude with the players returning to their respective hometowns to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr. Following this break, the squad will resume the training session in Karachi on April 13th, intensifying their preparations for the West Indies series set to commence on April 18th.

Interim head coach Mauhtashim Rashid expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress, highlighting the focus on improving players fitness post the successful series against New Zealand. Notably, the coaching staff has been bolstered with the addition of two new coaches, aimed at elevating the team’s performance in upcoming fixtures.

Rashid emphasized the significance of the domestic season in providing opportunities for both seasoned players and emerging talent to shine, evident in the selection of players who excelled in the T20 domestic events. Additionally, plans for an upcoming one-day tournament are underway, fostering healthy competition and expanding the talent pool to facilitate the formation of specialized ODI and T20I squads.

The list of probables includes notable names such as Aliya Riaz, Bismah Maroof, and Nida Dar, among others, with a dedicated support staff comprising experienced professionals in management, coaching, and player welfare.
