World Veterinary Day being Observed

MULTAN: Deputy Director of Livestock, Dr Jamshid Akhtar, said on Saturday that veterinarians have a pivotal role in safeguarding animal health and promoting milk and meat production, and their contribution should not be ignored.

Reflecting on ‘World Veterinary Day’, he acknowledged the global recognition bestowed upon veterinary professionals for their unwavering commitment to animal well-being, spanning from household pets to livestock and wildlife. Leveraging their expertise, veterinarians actively prevent and manage diseases, advocate for responsible animal welfare practices, and bolster food safety and security measures.

Dr. Jamshid emphasized that ‘World Veterinary Day’ serves as a crucial platform for raising awareness about the indispensable role of veterinary medicine in our daily lives, highlighting the interconnectedness of animal, human, and environmental health.

He further said, “This occasion is an opportunity to pay tribute to the relentless endeavours of veterinarians in enhancing the quality of life for both animals and humans, while also inspiring future generations to pursue careers in veterinary science.”

Encouraging cattle farmers to seek assistance from Livestock Department experts for any concerns related to animal health, he assured comprehensive support for the advancement of cattle farming initiatives.
