ROCKFORD: Four people were killed and five others injured in stabbing in Rockford city of US on Wednesday, local authorities said.
According to Rockford Police Chief Carla Redd a suspect is taken into police custody and was being interrogated. She added that said one of the people who was injured is in critical condition.
She sympathized with the families of the victims. She said the Rockford Police received a medical call at 1:14 p.m. after more calls for police and paramedics.
She said four individuals were killed while is in critical condition right and four others injured are in stable condition. According to Redd not all of the victims had stab injuries and none were shot.
She said three people died at the scene while fourth died in hospital.
Redd said residents in the area were being asked to review surveillance of their homes and watch camera footage for anything linked to the attacks.
The population of Rockford is about 150,000 and it is 144.84 kilometers miles northwest of Chicago. The incident comes days after a teenage employee of a Walmart was stabbed and killed inside the store in Rockford.
Sheriff Gary Caruana said the suspect was taken into custody by a Winnebago County sheriff’s deputy.
