Azerbaijan Envoy Meets Pakistan’s Air Chief, Express Interest in Multi-national Aerial Exercise

ISLAMABAD: Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Khazar Farhadov on Wednesday called on the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, and expressed profound interest in the upcoming multi-national aerial drill that would incorporate all domains of airpower.

The meeting covered a wide array of issues, including matters of mutual interest, regional developments, and the evolving geopolitical landscape, a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) press release said.

On the occasion, the Air Chief shared his strategic vision for the PAF and reiterated his unwavering commitment to modernizing its capabilities across the realms of space, cyber, air, and electronic warfare.

The discussion primarily focused on the fields of joint operational training and comprehensive cooperation in multi-spectrum, cross-domain operations.

Emphasizing the historical friendship between the two countries, the Air Chief said that the relationship between Pakistan and Azerbaijan has a myriad of causes, deeply rooted in shared experiences enduring cultural, religious, and historical bonds, all underpinned by a mutual commitment to regional peace, security, and stability.

He reaffirmed his steadfast determination to further deepen the existing inter-military cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of training and defense aviation.

In the backdrop of an upcoming major air drill being held at the Air Power Centre of Excellence, the Air Chief stressed the pivotal role of joint aerial exercises between the two air forces to foster mutual learning and effectively address mutual security challenges.

He offered his full cooperation for comprehensive training programs, starting from the basic level and progressing to tactical training of Azerbaijan Air Force (AAF) air and ground crew in order to further improve their technical skills and foster greater interoperability between the two forces.

The Air Chief appreciated the historic and exemplary professionalism displayed by PAF personnel in times of both conflict and peace. He also expressed admiration for PAF’s significant achievements in nurturing a progressive and vibrant domestic aviation industry.

Pakistan, Azerbaijan for Stronger Alliance

The visiting dignitary reaffirmed that Pakistan and Azerbaijan, with their strong diplomatic and defense relations, are poised for an even stronger alliance in the future.

He also lauded the visionary leadership of the Air Chief, especially commending the success of ‘The National Aerospace Science and Technology Park’, and expressed deep interest in this state-of-the-art project, underscoring its importance in advancing the domestic aerospace industry.
