Balochistan Offers Vast Opportunities for Foreign Investment: CM Bugti

QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti said on Thursday that the province was a suitable region for foreign investment and the provincial government would provide all facilities under one roof to domestic and foreign investors through the one-window operation.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Assistant Secretary-General United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Kanni Wignaraja, who called on him to discuss projects of UNDP in Balochistan.

In the meeting, the Balochistan government and the UNDP agreed on cooperation in various fields.

The CM said that Balochistan was facing the challenges of climate change. Due to the disrupted cycle of rains, crops and houses were facing massive damage. He said that the Balochistan government had been taking serious steps in the formation of climate change policy.

The chief minister said that work was in progress on alternative sources of energy to meet the needs of electrical energy.

On her part, Kanni Wignaraja said that under the UNDP, a district development plan had been devised for twenty districts of Pakistan including ten districts of Balochistan.

UNDP to Fully Cooperate with Balochistan Government

She said UNDP would fully cooperate with the Balochistan government in the sectors of health, education, and climate change.

Kanni Wignaraja added that UNDP was assisting the Balochistan government with rehabilitation of flood-hit people, alternative energy, rules of law and SDGs.
