LONDON: BBC’s decision to replace prominent actress Sara Poyzer with Artificial Intelligence (AI) has sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry. Poyzer expressed disappointment and surprise at being terminated by technology following decades of theatrical success.
The star has made prominent contributions to BBC productions for more than 20 years, featuring in popular shows such as EastEnders, Doctors, and The Archers.
However, her longstanding affiliation with the BBC suddenly came to an end when Sara Poyzer received an email informing her of the termination of her role.
The email expressed sorrow for the delay and said that it had the approval from the BBC to utilize the Artificial Intelligence generated voice so they would not need services of Sara anymore.
Sources suggest that the email was a reply from a firm cooperating with the BBC on a project that was contemplating hiring Sara Poyzer.
However, she learned that they would opt for Artificial Intelligence technology rather than of retaining Sara Poyzer’s services.
Poyzer expressed her dismay at the present state of the entertainment industry, describing it as “ugly times.”
