British High Commissioner Meets with Photojournalists

ISLAMABAD: British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott has said that the British High Commission intends to organize competition for photojournalists to recognize their efforts and contribution in society.

She expressed these remarks during a meeting with Photo journalists of Islamabad and Rawalpindi in Islamabad. She highlighted that images can convey powerful messages as the pictures are more powerful than a thousand words. She was of the view that the work of photojournalists should be recognized at every level. She added that they will make efforts to organize competitions under the themes of nature, food etc.

The High Commissioner emphasized that organizing a photojournalism competition would not only support the current photojournalist but would also inspire the next generation.

Jane Marriott further said that the time has come to appreciate professional photographers and photojournalists in the contemporary digital era.

On the occasion, the photojournalists thanked the British High Commissioner for thinking about an idea to organize a photo competition to highlight the key issues in society. They hoped that such types of competitions would encourage the photojournalists to enhance their skills and abilities.
