MUZAFFARGARH: The process of submitting nomination papers for bye-election in PP-269 was concluded on Thursday. According to the returning officer, a total of 26 candidates have submitted their papers to compete in the election. Notable among them is former MNA Raza Rabbani Khar. Captain (retired) Abdul Khaliq and former MNA Mehar Irshad Syal are also among the hopefuls vying for the bye-election.
Likewise, former independent candidate Iqbal Pitafi and former Chairman of the Municipal Committee Akram Chandiya have filed their papers to participate in the election.
The constituency became vacant after resignation of PPP Alamdar Hussain Qureshi. He resigned before the completion of the second count of the electoral result. As per the rules of the ECP, candidates are scheduled to be allotted symbols on May 1, with polling set to take place on May 18.
