ISLAMABAD: Saad Ahmad Warraich, Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires in India, said that the goal of regional peace and stability could be achieved by addressing shared concerns, enhancing mutual understanding, and resolving longstanding conflicts including Jammu and Kashmir.

A cycle of tensions and perpetual conflict is not our ordained destiny. We can emerge from the shadow of the past and script a future of hope for our nations based on sovereign equality, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect, Saad Ahmad Warraich said addressing the Pakistan Day reception arranged at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, India, according to a press release received on Friday.

Warraich said that the founding fathers of Pakistan and India had envisioned amicable ties between the two countries. Unfortunately, the history of their bilateral ties remained challenged for the most part.

The grand reception was attended by a large number of guests including political figures, members from the diplomatic corps, representatives of media and civil society, businessmen, and prominent Muslims personalities.

Importance of Pakistan Day

The charge d’affaires underlined the significance of the Pakistan Day, saying that the historic resolution adopted by the All India Muslim League at its annual session in Lahore on March 23, 1940, provided the foundation for the Pakistan Movement.

Warraich said that under Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s visionary leadership, the idea of Pakistan became a reality within a span of 7 years.

He said that over the years, Pakistan had made important strides in strengthening pluralism, democracy, promoting a free media and nurturing a vibrant civil society.

He added that the dynamic and enterprising youth of Pakistan are a repository of the country’s enduring faith in a bright and prosperous future.
