NEW YORK: Elon Musk’s artificial-intelligence (AI) startup will launch an upgraded version of Grok as its rival to OpenAI’s ChatGPT further intensifying the international AI context as interest in chatbots increases.
The latest version, Grok-1.5, will be available to early testers and existing Grok users on social-media platform X in the coming days, xAI said in a statement.
Elon Musk for alternative AI option
xAI introduced Grok as its flagship product in early November. Elon Musk has said the world required an alternative AI option to Microsoft and Google, a major investor in OpenAI. xAI’s announcement came days after Elon Musk said that all premium subscribers of X will have access to Grok this week.
He has drawn on the two companies’ overlapping financial backers, data and technology to help jump-start xAI, founded in 2023, while seeking to leverage AI to turn around X’s business and transform the social media platform into an “everything app.”
