Fact Check: 1997 Image of Diana Altered to Make Her Look Older

LONDON: A 1997 photo of the late Princess Diana has been digitally changed to make her appear older and falsely shared via different social media platforms as evidence of her being alive in 2024, Reuters reported on Tuesday.

Princess Diana was killed in a car accident in Paris at the age of 36 on August 31, 1997. Posts on social media platform shared the altered photo with the caption: “Breaking news Lady Diana is alive this is a photo of her from, February 13, 2024.”

The original image shows she delivering a speech on January 13, 1997 in Angola and was taken by a photographer associated with AP.

The social media account, which has shared her edited image has a history of posting false claims about celebrities who have died.

According to Reuters, the image of the late Princess has been altered and termed the claim as false and misleading.
