WASHINGTON: A photo of cattle on a blazing prairie is a design depicting wildfires that burnt Texas farms in March 2017, and not an act from fires in the Texas panhandle in 2024. The photo was shared in February as the Smokehouse Creek fire had destroyed property across millions of lands in the panhandle region, becoming the main wildfire in Texas’s history.
Texas Wildfire
According to Reuters, the photo is neither actual nor fresh. It is an illustration depicting wildfires that ravaged ranches in the region in March 2017 and also looked on the cover of Texas Monthly Magazine in its August issue.
A spokesperson for Texas Monthly Magazine did not issue any statement about the illustration. As per media reports, the photo of cattle on a blazing prairie does not show the 2024 fire, it is a design of a 2017 wildfire in the Texas region.
