Fact Check: Pakistani Cricketer Saeed Anwar Denies Presence on Social Media

LAHORE: Pakistan’s former Pakistan cricketer Saeed Anwar has denied that he has any social media account.  In a viral video on different forms of social media, Saeed Anwar is seen appealing to the people to report it.

He said that there is an account being run by his name where many statements are linked with him. However, Saeed Anwar categorically clarified that he was not linked with any official social media profile on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.

Speaking to a private TV channel, Saeed Anwar stated that all accounts bearing his name were fake and unauthorized.

Expressing deep disappointment over the misuse of his identity, Saeed Anwar said these fake social media accounts had been utilized to spread misinformation.

The renowned player stated he had been flooded with inquiries about his alleged social media activity, expressing confusion over the creation of fake profiles in his name.

There is a viral X account named @imSaeedAnwar impersonating the cricketer with followers of over 50,000. There are several posts related to sports especially cricket and other matters.

Anwar is Pakistan’s best ODI batsman with 20 centuries to his credit. He also made around 8,824 runs in 247 ODIs and 4,052 runs in 91 Test innings with eleven 100s.

Anwar’s 194 against India was the highest individual runs in ODIs for 12 years till Charles Coventry made an unbeaten 194 runs in 2009 against Bangladesh.
