BEIRUT :Hezbollah, in Lebanon, launched a fresh barrage of rockets across the border into Israel on Wednesday following an Israeli strike that tragically claimed the lives of two civilians.
This exchange of fire underscores the escalating tensions in the region, with Hezbollah vowing retaliation for what it deems as Israeli aggression against civilian populations.
The recent rocket attacks by Hezbollah targeted northern Israel, a direct response to the civilian deaths caused by an Israeli strike on Tuesday.
According to Hezbollah, these rockets were fired in retaliation for Israeli attacks on civilian homes. This exchange of fire represents an intensification of the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, which has been characterized by near-daily skirmishes and rocket fire.
The conflict traces back to October 7, when Hamas initiated a significant attack on Israel, leading to a wider war in Gaza. Since then, Hezbollah has been engaged in regular confrontations with the Israeli military, particularly targeting Israeli military bases with increased rocket fire in recent days.
Hezbollah’s actions have resulted in casualties on both sides of the border. In Lebanon, at least 380 people, including Hezbollah fighters and civilians, have lost their lives. On the Israeli side, 11 soldiers and eight civilians have been reported killed due to the conflict.
The situation remains volatile, with both Hezbollah and Israel continuing to exchange fire and escalating tensions.
