Lawyers Defenders of Democracy, HR, Constitution: Minister Solangi

ISLAMABAD: Murtaza Solangi, the Interim Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, on Wednesday said that lawyers were defenders of the Constitution, human rights and democracy.

He said this in a congratulatory message to newly elected office-bearers of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA). He congratulated the newly elected office bearers of SCBA President Shahzad Shaukat and Secretary Ali Imran Syed.

The minister commended the historical contribution of lawyers in upholding the principles of the rule of law, the Constitution’s supremacy, and democratic traditions.

Murtaza Solangi believed that lawyers are a vital link between the legal profession and the judiciary, emphasizing that a developed society cannot be achieved without a fair judicial system.

The minister expressed optimism that the newly elected officials of the SCBA would continue to fulfill their pivotal role in upholding the Constitution and ensuring the rule of law.

He also expressed hope that the successful panel of the Supreme Court Bar would actively and effectively address the issues faced by the legal community, particularly concerning significant legal matters. —APP
