Met Office Forecasts Cold, Dry Weather

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met) has predicted dry weather in most parts of the country, while cold weather will prevail in hilly areas during the next 24 hours.

However, cloudy weather with chances of light rain-wind/thunderstorms has been predicted at isolated places in Kurram and Waziristan.

Minimum recorded temperatures

The Met Office recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 8 Celsius in Leh, -6 °C in Kalam, -02 °C in Gupis and Astore.

As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of the country.

Weather and Air quality

As per the air quality index (AQI), the air quality in Lahore is 191 US AQI, 159 in Rawalpindi, 176 in Faisalabad, 161 in Muridke, 120 in Sialkot. In Sindh, the air quality in Karachi is 154 US AQI, 186 in Mirpur Khas, while Islamabad’s air quality stands at 119. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, air quality is 86 in Peshawar.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a maximum of 09-degree Celsius (°C) temperature was recorded in Islamabad, 12°C in Lahore, 18°C in Karachi, 11.5°C in Peshawar, 10°C in Quetta, and 05°C in Gilgit.
