NACTA and UNODC Host Research Conference on Terrorism in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s internal security organization, the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA), in collaboration with UNODC, organized a crucial Research Conference on ‘Understanding Terrorism in Newly Merged Districts (NMDs): Drivers, Challenges, and Viable Options.’

The conference brought together six distinguished subject experts from across Pakistan and beyond to present their findings on this pressing issue, focusing specifically on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s merged districts to address critical gaps in existing academic literature.

During the event, Mr. Muhammad Tahir Rai, National Coordinator of NACTA, said that the discussions and insights gathered will serve as a valuable resource for actionable strategies. These insights will be translated into practical policies, procedures, and interventions in line with NACTA’s mission to counter and prevent extremism and terrorism in Pakistan.

The conference was attended by participants from various stakeholders, including universities, research institutes, think tanks, and government organizations.
