National Women’s One-Day Tournament Kicks Off Today

LAHORE: Faisalabad, the bustling industrial hub, is gearing up to host the revamped National Women’s One-Day Tournament, commencing this Wednesday. Departing from its previous format, this season’s tournament, supported by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s unwavering commitment to women’s cricket, will feature an expanded roster of six regional teams. Embracing a double-league 50-over format, each team is guaranteed a minimum of 10 matches in the competition, vying for a total prize purse of PKR 2.245 million. The participating regional powerhouses include Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, and Rawalpindi.

The climax of this thrilling tournament will see the top two teams, emerging victorious after 30 league matches, battle for glory in the final showdown slated for May 11th, with the champions clinching the title along with a PKR one million cash prize.

The matches will unfold across the picturesque venues of Jawad Club Cricket Ground, Iqbal Stadium, and Bohranwali Cricket Ground, with the Saeed Ajmal Academy Ground on standby.

Leading their respective regions with prowess are Omaima Sohail for Karachi, Kaynat Hafeez for Lahore, Saima Malik for Quetta, Humna Bilal for Multan, and Gull Rukh and Mahnoor Aftab for Peshawar and Rawalpindi, respectively.

Kicking off the action-packed schedule on Wednesday will be Quetta taking on Rawalpindi at Jawad Cricket Club Ground, Karachi locking horns with Multan at Iqbal Stadium, and Peshawar facing Lahore at Bohranwali Cricket Ground.

As anticipation mounts, Friday will witness Quetta battling Peshawar at Iqbal Stadium, Lahore engaging Karachi at Jawad Club Cricket Ground, and Rawalpindi challenging Multan at Bohranwali Cricket Ground.
