Pakistan PM to Visit Gambia Soon

DAKAR: Saima Maymunah Sayed, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Senegal, has officially presented her diplomatic credentials to Adama Barrow, the President of the Gambia. In a press release issued on Saturday, it was announced that Ambassador Saima Sayed would serve as the non-resident Ambassador of Pakistan to the Gambia.

During her meeting, she emphasized the strong ties between Pakistan and the Gambia and conveyed good wishes for the upcoming 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

This presentation of credentials comes just days before Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s scheduled visit to the Gambia to attend the OIC Summit, which is set to take place on May 4–5, 2024, in the Gambian capital, Banjul.

According to the Foreign Office, during the summit, the Prime Minister will address Pakistan’s grave concerns about the genocide in Gaza and advocate for the right to self-determination for the people of Palestine.

Additionally, he will emphasize the importance of solidarity among Muslim nations and discuss issues such as Islamophobia, terrorism, and global challenges faced by the Muslim world. Prime Minister Sharif is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with other world leaders attending the summit.
