ISLAMABAD: The joint setting of the parliament will be held today at the Parliament House, Islamabad. Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq will preside over the joint session of the Parliament. Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari will address the joint session of the Parliament that to be held at 4:00 pm. All the arrangements have been finalized for the session of the parliament. This is the 1st joint session of the Parliament since constitution of the 16th National Assembly in Pakistan after February 8 elections.

“The president had summoned the joint session of Parliament in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 54(1) and 56(3) of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, a statement said.
Some reports suggests that opposition parties are likely to hold protest in today’s joint session of Parliament. According to the sources, the opposition legislators have been asked to ensure their attendance at the joint meeting to take part in the protest against the alleged polls rigging, and for supremacy of the Constitution of Pakistan.
