Pakistani Woman Honored with “Pakistan’s International Woman of Courage Award

ISLAMABAD: Chairperson of the Child Protection Bureau and a member of the Punjab Assembly, Sarah Ahmed, has been honored with the prestigious “Pakistan’s International Woman of Courage” award.

The award was presented to Sarah Ahmed by US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome during a ceremony held in Islamabad on Monday. This recognition marks Chairperson Sarah Ahmed as the first Pakistani woman to receive such an honor.

Her commendable efforts in combating child exploitation, bravery in confronting the human trafficking mafia, and dedicated services for children led to her being awarded the International Woman of Courage title.

Chairperson Sarah Ahmed was also recognized with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan for her outstanding contributions.

Throughout her tenure, Chairperson Sarah Ahmed received the International Collaborative Award in Italy and represented Pakistan at the United Nations, advocating for children’s rights.

Expressing her gratitude for the award, Sarah mentioned that receiving the International Woman of Courage accolade is not only a personal honor but also a recognition of Pakistan’s commitment to courage and resilience. She highlighted that this award marks a significant milestone as the first of its kind bestowed upon a woman in Pakistan. She also expressed her deep appreciation for the support and opportunities provided by government institutions.

Sarah dedicated the International Woman of Courage award to all children in Pakistan and acknowledged the efforts of the Child Protection Bureau team, whose tireless work contributed to her receiving this prestigious recognition.

She reiterated her mission to protect vulnerable and neglected children, combat child exploitation, and fulfill this responsibility with utmost dedication. Sarah mentioned that over 5,000 exploited and trafficked children have been rescued and supported, with 133 abandoned children successfully placed in suitable families.
