Pakistan’s Education Minister Inaugurates AIOU Study Centre in Balochistan

DALBANDIN: Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister of Education and Professional Training, on Wednesday inaugurated the Model Study Center of Allama Iqbal Open University in Dalbandin District Chaghi, Balochistan.

Vice Chancellor AIOU, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood, Principal Officers, Deans, and faculty members also attended the ceremony.

The minister said that promoting education in remote and backward parts of the country was a sacred mission of the university which was appreciable.

He congratulated the VC AIOU, Prof Dr. Nasir Mahmood, and his team for the expansion of the regional network in the backward parts of the country.

Speaking on the occasion, the VC said that collecting revenue was not the goal, but educating children was the top priority of the university.

He said that the AIOU was striving hard to eradicate illiteracy in Pakistan and it provided free matriculation education in the province of Balochistan, merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Scholarships for Students of Balochistan

He said that AIOU has allocated six crore rupees for scholarships and financial support, out of which two crores have been allocated only for the students of Balochistan.

He added that the university has laid a special focus on promoting education in interior Sindh and Balochistan.

The VC further said that the number of local and international admissions was increasing every semester.

Dr. Nasir Mahmood said that AIOU has become an important source of education for students living in Pakistan and around the world. The new center would benefit the students of Chaghi.
