Pakistan’s Information Minister Advocates Media Integrity in Meeting with UK Diplomat

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, emphasized the global challenge of misinformation, disinformation, and fake news during discussions with Zoe Ware, the Political Counselor of the British High Commission.

Tarar identified fake news on social media as a significant hurdle and affirmed the government’s commitment to addressing this issue. The meeting also explored bilateral relations between Pakistan and the UK, with a focus on enhancing cooperation in media-related fields, including film and drama.

Tarar advocated for journalists to prioritize verification processes on social media platforms and advocated for the development of a universal code of conduct for social media usage worldwide.

Miss Zoe Ware extended congratulations to the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) on forming the government and Attaullah Tarar on his appointment as Minister of Information and Broadcasting.

She pledged full support for fostering bilateral relations between Pakistan and the UK, emphasizing cooperation in various initiatives to promote mutual interests.
