Pakistan’s President Urges Preventive Measures Against Heart Diseases

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari highlighted the imperative of raising awareness and implementing comprehensive measures to combat cardiovascular diseases in Pakistan. He stressed the importance of educating people about adopting healthier lifestyles to mitigate heart-related ailments.

During a meeting with a delegation from the Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH), led by its President, Major General (Retired) Masud-ur-Rehman, held at Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Secretariat Press Wing conveyed.

President Zardari expressed concern over the escalating incidence of cardiovascular diseases and advocated for a holistic prevention program encompassing heart and non-communicable diseases.

He urged the enforcement of health advisories regarding the sugar content in carbonated and sugary beverages. The delegation briefed the President on PANAH’s efforts in disseminating information about heart diseases and their risk factors among the public.

PANAH outlined its initiatives aimed at preventing and controlling fatalities due to various heart conditions, including angina, heart failure, and heart attacks.

They highlighted their endeavors to educate individuals on recognizing cardiac arrest and administering Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to save lives.

Additionally, PANAH’s humanitarian efforts, such as aiding victims of natural disasters and providing medical assistance to underprivileged patients and children, were commended by the President.

President Zardari praised PANAH’s contributions to promoting cardiac health and advocating for healthier lifestyles, pledging his unwavering support for their endeavors.
