NEW DELHI: Indian actress Soumya Shetty has been accused of stealing 150 tola gold from the home of a person she befriended some time ago.
According to reports, police have recovered 74-tola of the stolen gold, but now Shetty has told the police that she can not return the remaining gold. She told the investigators that she would commit suicide if pressured further.
Shetty stands arrested by the police on charges of gold theft, following a complaint lodged by government official Prasad Babu. Babu informed authorities that Shetty befriended him during a movie audition, visiting his residence frequently and even utilizing his restroom on one such occasion. Babu stated that upon returning from a wedding, his family discovered the gold missing, implicating Shetty in the theft.
Shetty embarked on a luxurious vacation to Goa after the gold theft. In connection with the incident, the police have detained 11 individuals, including Soumya Shetty, with ongoing investigations.
