PSL 9: Fakhar, Shafique Guide Lahore Qalandars to 177 Against Karachi Kings

KARACHI: Brilliant half-centuries by opener Fakhar Zaman and number third batter Abdullah Shafique guided Lahore Qalandars to a fighting total of 177 runs against Karachi Kings in the 26th contest of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9th edition at National Stadium Karachi on Saturday

Earlier winning the toss Karachi Kings invited Lahore Qalandars to bat first. Qalandars lost their first wicket early when Anwar Ali removed Mirza Tahir Baig on just 4 runs. He was replaced by Abdullah Shafique who along with Fakhar Zaman took the scoreboard ahead. Both batters dominated Kings and added a crucial 70-run partnership for the side.

Meanwhile, Fakhar completed a quick and brilliant half-century. However, before displaying more threat he was run out on 54. His knock included 5 fours and 2 sixes. After Fakhar Qalandars lost some more quick wickets. Shai Hope departed for 9 while Shaheen Afridi scored just 1 run. Later Abdullah also completed his half-century. However, at 55 he also departed. At the stage, Qalandars were 131 for 5 in 16.4 overs. 

After some quick dismissals, Sikandar Raza and David Wiese pushed the scoreboard ahead. Both added some quick runs to the total. Lahore Qalandars scored 177 for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Both Sikandar Raza and David Wiese remained not out while scoring 22 and 24 runs respectively.
