ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan on Wednesday nominated Sahibzada Hamid Raza of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). Earlier, the PTI founder had named Sher Afzal Marwat as the chairman.

However, Imran Khan consulted the party leadership and nominated the Sahibzada Hamid Raza for the office of chairman. He has issued instructions to Secretary General PTI Omar Ayub in this regard.

Imran Khan Changes Decision?

On Tuesday, Sher Afzal Marwat said that Imran Khan had nominated him for the post of PAC Chairman, but some party leaders were pressurizing the party founder to change his decision.

It may be noted that the PAC plays an important role in upholding transparency and accountability within ministries, divisions, and public sector organizations.

The first Public Accounts Committee in Pakistan was established on May 20, 1948.
