Raisi Wraps up Trip, Leaves Pakistan

KARACHI: Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi left Pakistan after completing his three-day visit, local media reported on Wednesday.

President Raisi left for Iran from Karachi Airport. Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, and other top officials bade farewell to the President at Jinnah International Airport.

Earlier, President Raisi said that Islamabad and Tehran enjoy deep-rooted historical, cultural, and religious ties and both nations were keen to extend the bilateral ties and cooperation in diverse sectors.

Addressing the students and faculty at Government College University (GCU) during his trip, the President said it was need of the hour to pay special focus and attention to sciences and technology and arts to shine worldwide.

The Iranian President said that their universities were centers of learning and research and a comprehensive strategy in the education field may pay dividends.

On Allama Iqbal, he said the poetry of poet of Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal enjoys special acceptance in Iran. He stated Pakistan and Iran maintain the same position on the issue of Palestine. He said Tehran would further enhance its ties and cooperation with Islamabad in the energy and other fields.

During his visit to Lahore, the President also held meeting with the governor and chief minister of Punjab.

Earlier, the President also held meeting with President, Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff during his first day of visit in Islamabad. During the visit, Iran and Pakistan have also agreed to promote their bilateral ties in diverse sectors including trade, political, economic, and culture. At a press a joint press conference, President Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi said they have also decided to enhance their trade volume to 10 billion dollars.

On the occasion, the two leaders inaugurated the Iran Avenue, while President Raisi also planted a sapling at the premises of the Prime Minister House.
