Seven Day Winter Fest 2024 to Highlight Climate Challenges Concludes

GILGIT: The seven-day Winter Fest 2024, held at the frozen Khalti Lake of Gilgit Baltistan, concluded on Friday.

This annual celebration, taking place in the in Ghizer District, is organized by Sevendays to raise awareness about climate change, melting glaciers, wildlife conservation, and the importance of ecological balance.

The festival, typically held in January, featured a seminar on the third day addressing climate change challenges and its impact on the Gilgit Baltistan.

An ice hockey tournament for both male and female players was also organized on the frozen Khalti Lake to enhance sports communication among young athletes. The festival also witnessed fireworks, traditional music, and cultural performances.

The event drew dignitaries, athletes, artists, residents, and tourists, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The festival showcased the cultural richness of the district and valley, illuminating its beautiful scenery.

Celebrated to mark the end of the cold winter months and welcome the arrival of spring, the Winter Fest offers games and competitions for adults and children. Traditional food, musical performances, and dancing are highlights of the event.
