Weather Update: Rain and Windstorms Expected Across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Office has forecasted rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and northern Balochistan over the next twelve hours. Additionally, dust storms and dusty winds are anticipated in southern regions of the country.

Temperatures recorded in major cities include Islamabad and Gilgit at sixteen degrees Celsius, Lahore at twenty-one degrees, Karachi at twenty-five degrees, Peshawar at seventeen degrees, Quetta at thirteen degrees, Murree at nine degrees, and Muzafarabad at fourteen degrees Celsius.

In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, cloudy weather with chances of rain, wind, and thunderstorms is expected in various areas including Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramula.

Recent heavy rains have caused havoc in Balochistan’s Gwadar and Kech districts, disrupting normal life and traffic on the Coastal Highway. The district administration has declared a state of emergency, with paramilitary forces assisting in rescue and relief operations. Gwadar received over 160mm rainfall in 12 hours, leading to flooding in residential and commercial areas and damaging a portion of the coastal highway. Jiwani also faced significant damage, with three dams breaking and boats drifting away due to heavy rains.
