Women Cricket: Bangladesh Selects 15-Year-Old Pacer for T20I Series Against India

DHAKA: Bangladesh has unveiled their 15-player roster for the forthcoming five-match T20I series against India scheduled later this month.

Among the noteworthy inclusions is Habiba Islam Pinky, the 15-year-old pacer, who is set to make her international cricket debut as Bangladesh’s Tigresses prepare to host India in the T20I series.

Pinky, having already showcased her talent in U19 cricket earlier this year during a tri-series involving Sri Lanka and Pakistan, is poised to make a significant impact on the international stage.

The squad comprises Nigar Sultana Joty (Captain), Nahida Akter (Vice Captain), Murshida Khatun, Sobhana Mostary, Shorna Akter, Ritu Moni, Rabeya Khan, Sultana Khatun, Fahima Khatun, Marufa Akter, Fariha Islam Trisna, Shorifa Khatun, Dilara Akter, Rubya Haider Jhelik, and the aforementioned Habiba Islam Pinky.

Sumaiya Akter and Nishita Akter Nishi are named as standbys for the squad.

This upcoming series holds immense significance for both sides. Bangladesh aims to assess their capabilities against India, while Indian team seek to adapt to the conditions in Bangladesh ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup later this year.
