ISLAMABAD: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly denounced the arrest and harassment of Kashmiri people during cordon and search operations and house raids in Srinagar and other areas of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement from Srinagar, expressed deep concern over the fear instilled among the populace due to continued search operations, summoning of youth to police stations, and arbitrary arrests by Indian forces.

Minhas highlighted the use of draconian laws like the Public Safety Act (PSA), Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) to detain individuals on fabricated charges, silencing political dissent.

He emphasized that over 5,000 Kashmiris, including prominent APHC leaders and human rights defenders, are incarcerated in jails across India and IIOJK, advocating for the right to self-determination and political justice.

The APHC, backed by all Hurriyat leaders and the people of the territory, reaffirmed their commitment to the struggle for rights and freedom, urging Kashmiris to stand united against conspiracies by the occupying regime.

Minhas criticized New Delhi’s attempts to divert international attention through Indian Lok Sabha elections, emphasizing that the Kashmir issue remains unresolved as per United Nations resolutions.

He stressed that Jammu and Kashmir is facing a critical phase, with its people deprived of democratic and political rights, particularly the right to self-determination.
