WASHINGTON: Former U.S. President Barack Obama was not apprehended for “crimes against humanity” in January 2024, as showed by a fabricated photo circulating on different platforms of social media that depicts the former President being escorted into a police vehicle.

An Instagram post shared the fake photo claiming that it was part of a video originally uploaded by Television news anchor Tucker Carlson on a private social media account.

However, the photo is a composite made from two unrelated images and no such video appears in a “Tucker Carlson” social media account.

The fabricated photo, which shows Barak Obama in a white shirt being helped into a police car by an officer, is a composite developed using two unrelated images available on the stock image website Alamy.

Neither the fabricated photo nor the video that the posts claim was shared on Carlson’s social media account. According to Reuters, here is also no trustworthy news reporting regarding any arrest of Obama in any case. Reuters reported that the image was alerted and termed it misleading and false.
