LONDON: Several social media posts have quoted selective data to revive the misleading narrative that vaccines of COVID-19 do more damage than good.

The posts highlight about one million fatalities in England among the vaccinated between 2021 and 2023, as compared with around 61,000 deaths among the unvaccinated, to promote the untrue narrative that the vaccinations kill people.

Several Facebook posts carry similar text to articles by Chemical Violence and Natural News, which quote statistics from Britain’s Office for National Statistics, Reuters reported.

However, experts said that the articles miss the main context that far more people have had a COVID-19 immunization than declined one.

A spokesperson for the Office for National Statistics said that if you adjust for group scope to make a just comparison, there is a higher percentage of deaths among the unvaccinated people.

This suggests in 2021, for instance, there were around 1,688 deaths per 100,000 unvaccinated citizens, compared with 1,064 per 100,000 vaccinated citizens.

Using this scale, Office for National Statistics suggest all-cause deaths in England were higher among the unvaccinated people than those who had received at least one dose for monthly in 2021 to 2023 dataset.

According to Reuters, the post uses selective statistics to make a misleading assessment – if you look at deaths per 100,000 citizens, it shows the death rate among the unvaccinated is constantly higher.
