Gems and Jewellery Sector Key to Pakistan’s Economic Growth: Minister

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister for Industry and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the Gems and Jewellery sector, emphasizing its vital role in the country’s economic growth.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of a four-day international training course on Value Addition of Gemstone Products for Compliance with International Standards, jointly organized by the National Productivity Organization (NPO) and the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Tokyo, Japan, the minister underscored the importance of enhancing value addition in the sector to boost productivity and exports.

Highlighting the government’s support for the sector, Minister Tanveer stressed the significance of international collaborations and initiatives to drive further development. He emphasized that the Gems and Jewellery sector is integral to Pakistan’s economic growth and expressed optimism about future collaborations among APO member countries to strengthen the sector.

The minister also outlined the government’s efforts in closely monitoring key areas, devising policies, and planning interventions to ensure the sector’s growth. He emphasized the importance of mutual learning and collaboration among APO member countries to enhance productivity and innovation in the Gems & Jewellery sector.

Acknowledging the successful organization of the event, Minister Tanveer praised the efforts of the organizers to attract attention from APO member countries. The event was also addressed by Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry, CEO of NPO, and attended by delegates from APO member countries, local entrepreneurs, and experts from the Gems & Jewellery sector.
