ISLAMABAD: Pakistan ranked 10th worldwide in terms of hours spent on mobile devices (Android), with Pakistani users spending a total of 99 billion hours on their smartphones in 2023.
As per the State of Apps report for Pakistan, published by Data Darbar in collaboration with Emirati premium streaming platform Begin, Pakistan had 124 million broadband subscribers in 2023, and the average monthly data usage per user was 7.5GB.
Throughout 2023, Pakistan maintained nearly the same number of app downloads; 3.51 billion.
Pakistan turned out to be one of the fastest-growing app markets in recent years. In 2022, its growth rate surged by nearly 35 percent (from 2.61 billion downloads in 2021 to 3.52 billion downloads in 2022). However, in 2023, the market showed minimal growth, with a slight decrease of 0.3 percent.
The report attributes this slowdown to a global trend where worldwide app downloads only saw a marginal increase of 0.8 percent, totaling 257 billion in 2023 compared to 255 billion the previous year.
