ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the Islamabad United team for winning the 9th Pakistan Super League against Multan Sultans. In a statement, the Prime Minister said that the cricket was a uniting factor for the entire nation.
In the last ball thriller, Islamabad won against Multan Sultans by two wickets in the PSL-9 final at National Bank Stadium, Karachi, becoming the first team to have won the trophy for the third time as they already championed the PSL in 2016 and 2018.
In a statement, the prime minister said that the two sides played a fabulous game in the final. He added that this is the win of the entire nation, not any single team.

He appreciated the Pakistan Cricket Board, country’s security forces, administration, all the organizers and the audiences for ensuring the success of the Pakistan Super League 9th edition.
Shehbaz Sharif said that the whole PLS event presented the great contests as well as the sportsman spirit. He thanked the global players who took part in the mega event.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the mega event did not only provide recreation to the cricket fans but also played a significant role in exploring the sports talent at the grassroots level. He added that the PSL also helped revive the international cricket in the South Asian country. He also reiterated that the government was determined to take all-out steps for promotion of cricket and other sports in Pakistan.
