SEOUL: A worker was crushed to death by an industrial robot in South Korea following the machine apparently failed to distinguish him from the boxes of produce it was supervising, local news agency Yonhap reported on Wednesday.

The person, a robotics worker in company was checking the robot’s sensor operations at a centre for agricultural produce in Gyeongsang province in South Korea. The robot, which was lifting boxes filled with products and placing them on a palette, appears to have failed and identified the worker as a box, Yonhap reported quoting the police.
