DUBAI: The West Indies remain optimistic about Sunil Narine reversing his retirement stance and participating in this year’s T20 World Cup.

Captain Rovman Powell is actively attempting to persuade the prolific all-rounder to come out of retirement and represent the Caribbean team in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup scheduled for June. Despite Narine’s retirement announcement last November, Powell, along with other senior players like Pollard, Bravo, and Pooran, is persistently attempting to convince him otherwise.

Narine’s recent stellar performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL), including a remarkable century for the Kolkata Knight Riders, has reignited hopes for his inclusion in the T20 World Cup squad.

While Narine previously indicated he might watch the tournament from home, he hinted at a potential reversal of his decision, leaving room for speculation about his return to international cricket. With his impactful history in T20 cricket and his invaluable contributions to the West Indies’ success in past tournaments, there remains a glimmer of hope for Narine’s comeback to the international arena.
