Army, WAPDA Win All Pakistan Ramadan Cup Basketball Titles

ISLAMABAD: The All Pakistan 3×3 Ramadan Cup Basketball Tournament concluded at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad, with the unbeatable Pakistan Army and WAPDA A won the titles in the women’s and men’s departmental categories.

The final match between the Army and Lycans A Club in the Women’s category was fiercely contested, with the Army team demonstrating remarkable skills and resilience. They clinched the women’s title with a score of 12-5 points. Aamina Mohsin of the Army team stood out as the player of the night, contributing an impressive 8 points, supported by Hadiya with 3 points, while Mahrukh Ali scored 3 points for Lycans A.

In the Men’s departmental final, WAPDA A proved too strong for WAPDA B, securing a convincing victory with a score of 21-10 points. Key players Kaleemullah and Zain ul Hasan led the winning side with 9 and 7 points respectively, while Amir Farooq scored 6 points for the losing team.

During the concluding ceremony, Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) President Brig (R) Muhammad Iftikhar Mansoor presented the trophies and cash rewards to the victorious teams.

Several dignitaries, including Deputy Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board Muhammad Saeed Akhtar, PBBF Associate Secretary Ouj E Zahoor, and President of the Federal Basketball Association Ejaz Rafi Butt attended the event.

The 3×3 All Pakistan Ramadan Cup serves not only as a tournament but also as a celebration of basketball, particularly the growing format of 3×3. This event aims to enhance the visibility and interest in the sport among youth and sports enthusiasts across Pakistan, contributing to its popularity and recognition on an international level.
