Death Anniversary of Famous Folk Singer Pathanay Khan Being Observed Today

LAHORE: The 24th death anniversary of famous folk singer Pathanay Khan is being observed today, local media reported. Pathanay Khan gained worldwide fame through singing Sufi poetry, Ghazals and folk songs. He was born in 1926 at Basti Tambu Wali, Kot Addu, in the Muzaffargarh district.

Pathanay Khan was best known for his soulful performances of Kafiis, drawing inspiration from the works of revered Sufi poets such as Baba Bullay Shah, Khawaja Ghulam Fareed, Pir Mehar Ali Shah, and Shah Hussain, among others.

In 1979, the Government of Pakistan honoured him with the Pride of Performance award. He passed away on March 9, 2000, in his hometown of Kot Addu, at the age of 74.
