Fact Check: No Curfew Imposed in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: British news outlet The Independent has published a blog on its live updates for general elections in Pakistan titled: “Curfew imposed in Islamabad.” The news outlet published the blog on Friday. According to the iVerify Pakistan team that  the claimed from The Independent report is completely misleading.

Dawn cited the social media account of Islamabad police over the matter and reported that section 144 was imposed in Islamabad on Friday. It added that there was no curfew in Islamabad on Friday.

The British media outlet also shared the same claim on social media platform X with the post gaining more than 21,000 views.

As per media reports, many users observed exhibited confusion and ambiguity over the news and whether or not it was factual.

However, the iVerify Pakistan has concluded that the claimed development from The Independent report is completely misleading.
