Government to Address Farmers’ Concerns Regarding Wheat Prices: Law Minister

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar said on Thursday that the government will fully address the concerns raised by farmers regarding wheat prices.

In response to questions raised in the Senate, the minister expressed confidence that wheat prices will stabilize soon.

He underlined ongoing consultations between the federal government and the Punjab Government, emphasizing agriculture’s important role in the economy of Pakistan.

The minister said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has established a daily operating special committee to tackle the issue.

Law Minister Apprises House of Inquiry into Wheat Import

He also informed the House about the cabinet-level discussion on the matter, with the Prime Minister ordering an inquiry into the unnecessary wheat import despite sufficient domestic stock.

The Senate session is scheduled to reconvene at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
