PSL 9: Dussen Drives Lahore Qalandars to 162 Against Islamabad United

RAWALPINDI: A terrific half-century by Rassie van der Dussen followed by a quick 30 runs innings from Shaheen Afridi drove Lahore Qalandars to score 162 for the loss of 7 wickets against Islamabad United in the 23rd contest of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9th edition at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. Dussen scored crucial 64 runs for the side while facing 44 balls.

Earlier winning the toss Islamabad United Win Toss and invited Lahore Qalandars to bat first. Islamabad United pacers, particularly the Shah brothers took Qalandars under pressure from the very first over. Naseem Shah’s first over was even terrific and teased Sahibzada Farhan a lot. However, it was the younger brother Hunain Shah who dismissed Farhan in the fourth over on just 2 runs. OUT OF FORM Fakhar Zaman also departed soon and was dismissed by Ruman Raees on 10. 

The next was Shai Hope who was removed by Imad Waseem on 6. At the stage, Lahore Qalandars were 30 for 3 in 6.4 overs. Shai Hope and Fakhar were Replaced by Rassie van der Dussen and the skipper Shaheen Afridi. Shaheen displayed some firing strokes and added a quick 30 runs on 14 balls before he was removed by Shadab. However, Rassie van der Dussen managed to stay on the crease. 

The number 6 batter Sikandar Raza also departed early and just scored 4. Meanwhile, Dussen completed his terrific half-century. However, on the other hand, no other batter managed to stay on the crease. After Sikandar Raza Ahsan Hafeez also scored just 13 before he was removed by Naseem Shah. At the stage, Qalandars were 117 for 6 in 16.2 overs. The next was Ven der Dussen who scored valuable 64 runs for the team. His innings included 4 boundaries and 4 sixes.

Later the tail added some score to drive the side to 162 for 7 in 20 overs.

From Islamabad United, Ruman Raees bagged two wickets while Naseem Shah, Hunain Shah, Imad Waseem, Shadab Khan and Faheem Ashraf got 1 wicket each.
