MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin did not tell talk anchor Tucker Carlson in a February 6 interview that Russians are smiling by Washington’s “neglect” of the southern US border.

No such statement was made during the interview, and a screenshot shared online with a purported transcript of the exchange is dated February 4, two days before the chat took place. The post also does not appear on the X account shown in the circulated screenshot, Reuters reported.

The shared screenshot of a post on X suggests that Tucker asked Putin that does he follows what is happening on the American southern border? To which Putin said yes, it is part of my daily briefing. Russians find it ironically amusing the US Congress will spend billions of dollars protecting foreign borders but neglect it’ own. It’s quite laughable but deadly.

Tucker Carlson spoke with Putin in an interview that lasted more than two hours in Moscow on February 6, and was broadcast on February 8.

Putin refers to US border

Putin did refer to the United States border in the interview when asked about a statement made by US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on funding Ukraine’s war effort.
